01 About this notice

This notice describes the current Morocco GeoHub website and map explorer. For questions about information handled through the platform, contact the Morocco GeoHub team at [email protected].

Before accounts are introduced for downloads, this notice will be updated to explain what registration information is collected, why it is needed, and how it is managed.

02 Information and its use

Browsing the website

Loading pages, maps, and datasets involves sending your IP address and technical request information to the systems serving those resources. Requests may appear in server logs, including the requested address and response status.

Using the map and downloading data

GeoHub receives the dataset and coordinates you select when inspecting a point. When you request a download, it receives your drawn polygon and dataset selection to prepare a cropped raster file. These selections describe an area you choose; the application does not request your device's GPS location.

The current map explorer does not save a personal map history. Point coordinates are included in requests to the server and may appear in request logs.

Contacting the team

If you email us, your email address, message, and any details or attachments you include are made available to the recipient and the email services involved. These details are used to read and respond to your inquiry. Share only what is needed for your request.

For privacy requests, please use the email address below.

03 External services

Esri / ArcGIS basemaps

Maps on the home page and in the explorer load basemap images directly from Esri's ArcGIS services. Those requests disclose your IP address and technical request information to Esri, as well as the map tiles needed for the area being viewed. They occur when the map loads and as you navigate it.

Esri handles information under its own Privacy Statement. External service processing may take place outside Morocco.

Publications and other links

Following a publication, DOI, researcher profile, or other external link takes you to a separate service. That service receives your browser request and applies its own privacy practices. Publication branding may also be retrieved by GeoHub from publisher or metadata services.

04 Cookies and browser storage

The current website does not set application cookies or save map preferences in browser storage. Map selections are held in the page while you use it. Your browser may cache website resources and keep downloaded files according to your settings.

You can manage cached files and site permissions in your browser. Blocking external map requests may prevent basemaps from loading.

05 Retention and security

Downloaded raster files are generated temporarily on the server. The application schedules the temporary file for deletion after the response is sent and attempts cleanup if generation fails. A copy saved on your device remains under your control.

Contact the team to ask about the retention of correspondence or request deletion of information relating to you.

No website or email service can guarantee absolute security. Please do not send passwords, identity documents, or sensitive personal information in an initial inquiry.

06 Your choices and rights

Under applicable Moroccan data protection law, you may exercise rights of access, rectification, and opposition concerning your personal information. You may also request deletion where the legal conditions apply.

Email the team with the subject “Privacy request” and explain your request. We may need enough information to identify the relevant records and verify that they concern you. You can also contact Morocco's Commission Nationale de contrôle de la protection des Données à caractère Personnel (CNDP) about your rights or a complaint.
